"My two sons, 1st and 3rd graders, had an amazing time building puppets and backgrounds today, just with stuff we already had in the house. Miss Meredith was patient, modeled each step, and checked in with each kid throughout the virtual lesson. The puppets are now proudly on display in our home and my kids are excited to write about them and share them virtually with their classes at school. We will definitely be attending more of these--what a great break during our "stay at home" days!"
"My daughter and my niece and nephew had an awesome time in their Puppet class and made sure I signed them up for this weeks too! Meredith is so creative and captivated not only their attention but tapped them to dig deep into their creative talents! Totally recommend. Invite your friends or family living in different towns, or states! Do a family improv class! My daughter also took advanced improv! She was energized for hours after thinking about what she wanted to do next.
All Classes are 1 hour in length, with the exception of Preschool Storytime, which is 40-45 minutes.
"I'm a children's librarian in Wakefield and yesterday we had the pleasure of enjoying a wonderful, virtual acting & improv program for grades K-4 led by Meredith. This was a popular program and registration filled up quickly. While the necessity to host the event virtually probably changed some aspects of the program, the kids really enjoyed it and seemed to have no trouble jumping in and playing games despite this!
Meredith was an engaging and attentive leader. The kids were very comfortable committing to different activities and I was so impressed by their creativity. These types of programs are wonderful ways to allow young people to get involved in the arts and explore their creative and silly sides, whilst also developing important skills like speaking in front of an audience and thinking on their feet. One attendee even shared that she planned to perform her own acting showcase for her family after the program!
I would definitely recommend Drama Out of the Box - it was great to see such enthusiasm and engagement and so many smiles and laughs from the kids in the program and I was impressed with Meredith's ability to adapt her program to a virtual format with such ease. While we navigate Covid-19 and ways to adapt, it's great to know we can still enjoy high-quality programs in an online format. Thank you so much, Meredith! We hope to have you again at the Beebe Library!"
